Mid-Year Highlights: Reflecting on PFRPA’s Year-to-Date Successes

Jul 24, 2025

PFRPA
The first half of 2025 has been a productive and rewarding time for the Pro Football Retired Players Association (PFRPA), with multiple successes worthy of celebration. In this blog edition, we reflect on some of our key events from the first six months of the year, and we look ahead to the future.

PFRPA at Super Bowl LIX

In February, PFRPA attended Super Bowl LIX Week in New Orleans. Retired NFL players and their families were once again welcomed at the PFRPA Member Engagement Suite, where they could relax; connect with staff about their benefits; and enjoy products from PFRPA sponsors.

The PFRPA team also attended a number of events hosted by our partners throughout the week. An additional highlight included the launch of the Alumni Media Esports League (AMEL), which transformed the PFRPA Member Engagement Suite into a gaming lounge and podcast studio.

We are already looking forward to connecting with current and prospective PFRPA members, partners and media outlets during Super Bowl LX Week in San Francisco in 2026!

Launch of the PFRPA Operational Legacy Fund

On May 29, PFRPA announced the launch of the PFRPA Operational Legacy Fund, a board-designated endowment that will support PFRPA’s long-term operations and bolster the organization’s commitment to solidifying and preserving the legacy of retired NFL players.

PFRPA believes that no matter their position or how long they played, every retired NFL player should receive some level of support. The Fund builds on our past efforts and marks a significant step towards promoting the health and well-being of our PFRPA members for years to come.

Raiders Alumni Wellness Weekend

In June, PFRPA attended the Second Annual Raiders Alumni Wellness Weekend. This special event brought together retired NFL players who played with the Raiders at any point in their careers.

We were honored to be invited to take part in the weekend’s activities, including the Wellness Expo. It was great to connect with so many retired players and their spouses, as well as partner organizations.

New Strategic Alliances

Earlier this year, PFRPA formed two new strategic alliances with Endeavor Health and the Leigh Steinberg Foundation.

Endeavor Health

PFRPA has hosted two webinars with Endeavor Health thus far, covering health topics that matter to PFRPA members, including Protecting Memory and Brain Health and Understanding Arthritis Pain.

Endeavor Health is a Chicagoland-based integrated health system, driven by its mission to help everyone in their communities to be their best. Their SportsCare team offers a concierge service that links retired players and their families to a wide range of healthcare providers.

The Leigh Steinberg Foundation

The Leigh Steinberg Foundation is committed to transforming the landscape of brain health by advancing the understanding, prevention and treatment of concussions, traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and related challenges. Founded by Sports Agent Leigh Steinberg, the Foundation leverages decades of experience to advocate for athletes’ well-being and promote safer sports practices.

These new strategic alliances provide the opportunity for PFRPA to expand our impact and offer even more resources to members.

Looking Ahead: The 2nd Annual PFRPA Champions Banquet

The 2nd Annual PFRPA Champions Banquet, being held at the Directors Club at NRG Stadium in Houston on September 25, 2025, is set to be a truly special event in the coming months! We will celebrate retired NFL players who are making a positive impact, as well as individuals who have made significant contributions to the former player community. More information about this year’s honorees can be found here.

Registration for the event is open to the public and sponsorship opportunities are also available.

As we look forward, PFRPA remains dedicated to supporting retired NFL players by providing meaningful benefits; working with partners that can act as resources for our members; delivering impactful events; and offering long-term sustainability through the Operational Legacy Fund.

We look forward to a busy and exciting second half of the year!
