After hanging up their cleats, life after football varies for every player. The “Life After Football” series, presented by Pro Football Retired Players Association (PFRPA), is dedicated to highlighting the diverse stories of retired NFL players and their lives after the game. Regardless of when or how long they played, football has taught every player valuable lessons and shaped their careers beyond the playing field.
Retired NFL Player and PFRPA Member Darrick Brown spent two seasons as a cornerback with the Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts between 2008 and 2010. A graduate of McNeese State University, Brown has always had a passion for art, but creating took a back seat during his football career. After rediscovering his passion in 2020, Darrick has been building his career as an abstract artist, finding new opportunities to showcase and share his work, including during Super Bowl week.
In addition to his career as an artist, Brown gives back to his community as the founder and president of DMC Youth Sports and Education. Founded alongside his brother, Marcus Brown, as well as fellow McNeese State teammate, Carlese Franklin, DMC Youth Sports and Education aims to create positive change in the lives of young boys and girls through a holistic approach that merges athletic excellence with personal growth. The organization provides access to sports programs, education, mentorship and other support systems that empower young individuals, particularly those who might face economic or social disadvantages.
