Earlier this month, five retired NFL players were recognized with football’s highest honor as they were inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026 in Canton, Ohio.
The Class of 2026 inductees are:
- Drew Brees, Quarterback (Los Angeles Chargers, 2001-2005; New Orleans Saints, 2006-2020)
- Roger Craig, Running Back (San Francisco 49ers, 1983-1990; Las Vegas Raiders, 1991; Minnesota Vikings, 1992-1993)
- Larry Fitzgerald, Wide Receiver (Arizona Cardinals, 2004-2020)
- Luke Kuechly, Linebacker (Carolina Panthers, 2012-2019)

Adam Vinatieri, Placekicker (New England Patriots, 1996-2005; Indianapolis Colts, 2006-2019)
Among this list of outstanding retired NFL players are two PFRPA members, Luke Kuechly and Adam Vinatieri.
Luke Kuechly
Luke Kuechly was selected ninth overall in the 2012 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers and spent his entire career (eight seasons) with the franchise. At the age of 35, Kuechly became the second-youngest person ever inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
His notable career accolades include:
- NFL Defensive Player of the Year (2013)
- NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year (2012)
- Named First-team All-Pro five times (2013–2015, 2017, 2018)
- Selected to the Pro Bowl seven times (2013–2019)
- NFL Combined Tackles Leader (2012, 2014)
- NFL 2010s All-Decade Team
Kuechly made an immediate impact in the football world, making NFL history as the youngest recipient of both the Defensive Rookie of the Year award in 2012 and the Defensive Player of the Year award in 2013. He recorded 100-plus tackles in each of his eight NFL seasons, finishing his career with 1092 tackles, 18 interceptions, 66 passes defensed, 12.5 sacks and 31 quarterback hits. Kuechly is also tied for the NFL record of most combined tackles in a game, with 24 combined tackles against the New Orleans Saints on December 22, 2013. In just eight seasons, Kuechly’s impact cemented his legacy among the NFL’s all-time great linebackers.
Adam Vinatieri
Adam Vinatieri entered the league in 1996 as an undrafted free agent, signing with the New England Patriots. He played for the franchise for 10 seasons, then played another 14 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.
His notable career accolades include:
- NFL All-Time Leading Scorer (2,673)
- NFL All-Time Most Field Goals Made (599)
- NFL All-Time Most Consecutive Field Goals Made (44)
- Four-Time Super Bowl Champion (XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX, XLI)
- Named First-team All-Pro three times (2002, 2004, 2014)
- Selected to the Pro Bowl three times (2002, 2004, 2014)
- NFL 2000s All-Decade Team
- NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time Team
Vinatieri became just the third pure placekicker to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Along with PFRPA Member and Pro Football Hall of Famer Jan Stenerud, Vinatieri is one of two kickers who was named to the NFL 100 All-Time Team in 2019. In addition to the accolades above, Vinatieri had 11 game-winning overtime field goals (regular and postseason combined) throughout his career, which is also an NFL record. Celebrated for his kicking accuracy and ability to deliver in clutch moments, Vinatieri is considered one of the greatest placekickers of all time.
