A Year In Review

Dec 20, 2024

PFRPA
Reflecting on 2024, this year has been one of great achievement and success for PFRPA, setting the stage for a prosperous 2025. Since the mid-year update, the second half of 2024 brought some major occasions and exciting events to the PFRPA calendar, along with meaningful new partnerships.

Looking back at some of the key moments and events throughout the year, PFRPA was able to further broaden awareness about the organization’s mission and contribute to serving the retired NFL player community.

You can also take a look at some highlights from the past year in the video at the end of the article.

Key Events

Super Bowl LVIII Week
PFRPA made a highly anticipated return to Super Bowl Week in Las Vegas in February for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, hosting the inaugural ‘PFRPA Engagement Suite’ at the LINQ in the days leading up to Super Bowl LVIII. The Suite offered retired NFL players and their families a welcoming space to unwind; network with the PFRPA team; and bond with fellow retired players in a relaxed, social setting.

Check out the highlights from PFRPA’s time at Super Bowl LVIII week via the PFRPA Daily channel on Alumni Media Network.

PFRPA Champions Luncheon
In June, PFRPA held the PFRPA Champions Luncheon at the historic Hotel Northland in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The inaugural fundraising event recognized individuals who have made significant contributions to the retired NFL player community.

Held in the hotel’s Crystal Ballroom, where Vince Lombardi was formally introduced as the Coach and General Manager of the Green Bay Packers in 1959, Cathy Dworak, Harry Sydney and Chris Jacke were honored as recipients of the PFRPA Champion Award.

All proceeds from the event went to the Greater Good Fund, PFRPA's 501(c)(3) charitable foundation, which offers benefits, programs and initiatives for retired NFL players.

You can watch the highlights from the event on PFRPA Daily and read more about the event here.

Rival Golf Classic
PFRPA traveled to Clifton, New Jersey in October, attending the annual Rival Golf Classic tournament. PFRPA was proud to sponsor the Closest to the Pin hole, where the winner received a Las Vegas Raiders helmet signed by Hall of Famer and PFRPA Board Member Mike Haynes.

Following the conclusion of the tournament, PFRPA was honored to receive the Organizational Excellence Award for outstanding service to the retired player community.

Additionally, PFRPA had the opportunity to attend many other events held by the organization’s partners and sponsors throughout the year.

New Corporate Sponsors

The first half of the year saw PFRPA form strategic partnerships with several new organizations, including Alumni Media Network, AI Reach Agency and MENTOR. In the second half of the year, PFRPA welcomed various new Corporate Sponsors, including:

Onrise Care; and

RxSugar.

PFRPA is incredibly appreciative of the support that all of our corporate sponsors have provided throughout the year. The contributions of each sponsor have made a positive impact on the well-being of PFRPA members and the wider retired NFL player community.

Official Charity Partner of Cheesehead TV

Capping off the year, PFRPA was chosen as the Exclusive Charity Partner of Cheesehead TV for the month of November. All proceeds from every CHTV Watch Party and from their flagship podcast, Packer Transplants, were donated to PFRPA’s 501(c)(3) charitable foundation, the Greater Good Fund.

PFRPA was grateful to be Cheesehead TV’s first charity partner, as it provided a novel platform to showcase PFRPA and the organization’s efforts to support its members.

Looking Ahead

PFRPA has commenced preparations for Super Bowl LIX Week in February. We look forward to sharing further details about that, the PFRPA Champions Banquet and more upcoming events in 2025 soon.

PFRPA Executive Director Joe Agbasi is proud to share the impact of the organization’s work this year.

"This year has been one of great progress and big steps forward for PFRPA,” said Mr. Agbasi. “The opportunity to make an ever-greater impact is in front of us. We are grateful for the support of our members, partners and corporate sponsors throughout 2024 and look forward to another exciting year in 2025.”

The PFRPA team wishes everyone a very Happy Holidays full of joy, peace and good health.
