Reflecting On The Year To Date

May 31, 2024

PFRPA
This year has proven to be eventful, filled with events, milestones, and successes for PFRPA. As we approach the midway point, we reflect on 2024 so far.

PFRPA Vision Plan Milestones
January marked five years of the PFRPA Vision Plan. PFRPA’s partnership with VSP Vision Care has provided significant vision benefits to both retired NFL players and their spouses and continues to provide unprecedented coverage.

On top of that, the Vision Plan recently enrolled its 5,000th retired NFL player. This is an incredible milestone that PFRPA is proud to have achieved since the Vision Plan’s inception in 2019. More than 2,100 retired players’ spouses have also enrolled in the program.

Super Bowl LVIII
In February, PFRPA attended Super Bowl Week in Las Vegas, returning for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic. This year was also the first time PFRPA hosted the PFRPA Engagement Suite at the LINQ Hotel and Experience in the leadup to Super Bowl LVIII. The Suite provided retired NFL players and their families a space to relax and mingle with the PFRPA team and fellow retired players.

PFRPA’s return to Super Bowl Week also provided the perfect opportunity to connect with many of PFRPA’s partners, local media outlets and supporters. Check out PFRPA Daily on Alumni Media Network to get a behind the scenes look at Radio Row and go inside the NFL Experience.

It won’t be long before preparations begin for Super Bowl LIX, being held in New Orleans in February 2025!

New Strategic Partnerships
The first half of 2024 saw PFRPA welcome three new partners: Alumni Media Network, AI Reach Agency, and MENTOR. Each organization provides a unique offering for retired NFL players, with a shared vision to support their lives after football.

PFRPA’s partnership with Alumni Media Network, an over-the-top (OTT) media network that creates and distributes content in partnership with retired professional athletes, provides retired NFL players with a platform to express themselves creatively through their own, personalized channels.

The streaming platform enables retired players to create and distribute their own content; build and grow their brands; and offer an income stream through the monetization of their content.

In April, PFRPA officially partnered with AI Reach Agency, (AIRA Corporate), a technology company specializing in social media marketing using artificial intelligence, with the shared mission to empower athletes' legacies through AI technology.

Through AIRA’s offerings, retired NFL players can expand their social media presence, while helping to build their profiles for sponsorships, brand partnerships and media interactions.

PFRPA recently announced its partnership with MENTOR, a national organization that facilitates mentoring relationships for youth. The new partnership provides retired NFL players, and their families, with the opportunity to become mentors.

Retired NFL players are offered mentoring opportunities within their local communities or nationwide via e-mentoring, with significant benefits for both adults and youth to establish meaningful connections.

Looking Ahead: The PFRPA Champions Luncheon (and beyond)
Rounding out the first half of the year, PFRPA will host the PFRPA Champions Luncheon on Wednesday, June 12, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The inaugural fundraising event will recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the retired NFL player community.

It is shaping up to be a memorable occasion, made even more special by its location in the Crystal Ballroom at the historic Hotel Northland, where Vince Lombardi was formally introduced as the Coach and General Manager of the Green Bay Packers in 1959.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Greater Good Fund, PFRPA's 501(c)(3) charitable foundation, which offers benefits, programs and initiatives for retired NFL players.

PFRPA looks forward to a positive and prosperous second half of 2024!
