PFRPA at Super Bowl LIX Week
Feb 26, 2025
From Mardi Gras beads on arrival to serving many of Louisiana’s Creole specialties, New Orleans provided a perfectly vibrant scene for Super Bowl LIX this month.
Take a look at some of PFRPA’s highlights from the week!
The PFRPA Member Engagement Suite
For the second year in a row, the PFRPA Member Engagement Suite provided a space for retired NFL players and their families to relax; speak with PFRPA staff about their benefits; and sample some of the great products provided by PFRPA’s sponsors.
It was great to meet so many PFRPA members and other retired NFL players throughout the week. We loved speaking with you; hearing your stories; and are grateful for your testimonials!
A big thank you to PFRPA’s sponsors, LIGHT Helmets, Virta Health and RxSugar for the support they provided to make the PFRPA Member Engagement Suite a resounding success.
Partner Events
PFRPA had the honor of attending a number of events held by its partners throughout the week.
This impactful event addressed brain health disparities among Black men, bringing together experts, practitioners and community members to discuss the important factors impacting health and wellness.
Hosted by The Football Players Health Study at Harvard University, this highly insightful panel discussion was both informative and thought-provoking. PFRPA is grateful to continue its ongoing collaboration with the Study and their efforts to improve the health and well-being of former NFL players.
Females in Flag Give Back
Located at the Super Bowl Experience, this community event, hosted by Off The Field NFL Wives, saw a production line packing 500 backpacks with all of the essentials for youth girls flag football! It was an honor to be part of a great cause and to see the continued growth of youth flag football.
PFRPA attended Authenticity in Action, hosted by the NFL, in partnership with RISE and the New Orleans Saints. In addition to amazing speakers and a chance to reflect on DEI initiatives, we also had the opportunity to view an advanced screening of Shallow Water, a short film highlighting New Orleans’ Black Masking Indians and the legacy of resistance and community.
PFRPA staff attended the annual event hosted by Ron Jaworski and Brian Urlacher, with all proceeds directly benefiting the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund.
Launch of the Alumni Media Esports League (AMEL)
On Friday, February 7, the PFRPA Member Engagement Suite transformed into a gaming lounge and podcast studio for the launch of the Alumni Media Esports League!
Alumni Media Network Co-Founder, PFRPA Board Member and Esports Coach Ahman Green hosted a series of exciting gaming activities throughout the day, where retired NFL players competed in an F1 simulator; played golf in virtual reality; and tested their skills on traditional gaming consoles.
The 25th Annual Player Networking Event offered a networking experience for active and former NFL players, vendors and invited corporate guests. The event included a networking trade show featuring select athlete-owned businesses, event partners and sponsors; a live podcast; educational breakout sessions; and structured business development meetings.
The 38th annual edition of this event brought together influential leaders in sports, business, politics, healthcare, technology, entertainment and social impact. Highlights included the 12th Annual Brain Health Summit; a Health Innovation Panel Discussion; a cutting-edge Brain and BioHacking Lounge; and the Steinberg Denicola Humanitarian Awards presentation.
Media and Events
At the Media Center, Radio Row was buzzing, with local and international media outlets broadcasting and podcasting live.
PFRPA Executive Director Joe Agbasi sat down to speak with Cheesehead TV’s Aaron Nagler to thank Green Bay Packers fans and the broader Cheesehead TV community for their generosity. The exclusive charity partnership raised more than $7,000 throughout November 2024 for PFRPA’s 501(c)(3) charitable foundation, the Greater Good Fund.
Mr. Agbasi also spoke about PFRPA’s benefits, programs and initiatives offered to retired NFL players, emphasizing the impact seen by donations to the Foundation. Watch the full interview here.
Additionally, the Media Party, Super Bowl Experience and Super Bowl Parade were notable mentions from the week.
The Media Party showcased some of the best local cuisine, entertainment and views of the Huey P. Long Bridge over the Mississippi River in New Orleans.
The Super Bowl Experience provided the opportunity to get up close with Super Bowl rings, dazzling helmet displays, the Vince Lombardi Trophy and historical NFL artifacts highlighting the evolution of the game. The space enabled fans to put their skills to the test kicking, throwing and running a 40-yard dash.
The Super Bowl Host Committee also held a uniquely New Orleans Super Bowl Parade through the French Quarter. In true Mardi Gras style, the bright colors, creative floats and football-infused themes created an exciting energy like no other!
